UCMP Testing: How Paradis Lifts simplifies

the burden for technicians

At Paradis Lifts, our perspective was formed long before we opened our production line. It was shaped during the decades we spent as installers, working directly inside the lift shafts.

Povilas Mizgaitis, our Head of Export, often reflects on those early years: As installers, we knew the limitations of lifts made in accordance with the machine directive… it was usual not to get the quality we expected and upgrade some parts ourselves. This first-hand experience became our primary motivator. We did not just want to manufacture another cargo lift, we wanted to build a technical assistant for the team.

| A safety standard, not a headache

Unintended Car Movement Protection (UCMP) is a non-negotiable safety component designed to prevent unexpected movement. However, anyone who has had to assemble a lift knows the reality: testing safety systems is often a tedious and sometimes risky process.

As Povilas noted: “The main idea is to take care of those like us – the installers and the maintenance technicians, who are constantly giving their attention to every detail to keep the movement going.” This is why we integrated a dedicated UCM-Testing Operation into our controller’s “Testing-Assistant” suite.

| What problems does the ‘UCM-Testing Operation’ solve?

By drawing on our background as installers, we have focused on features that streamline the work of maintenance teams, saving both time and costs:

| Safe simulation: Our smart controller allows for the safe simulation of an Unintended Car Movement event. This removes the need for installers to manually tamper with the safety circuit.

| Precision and compliance: The HS Model features a linear encoder that ensures precise monitoring of elevator position and speed. This allows the UCMP test to be performed with millimetre-level accuracy.

| Remote insight: according to Povilas, “The ability to see the cabin’s position and status remotely makes a night-and-day difference for our maintenance technicians, enabling them to take proactive measures to ensure smooth operation and a long lifespan for the lift.” This remote troubleshooting capability significantly reduces the need for on-site maintenance.

| Accountability in every millimetre

We don’t take our path lightly. Within the company, we thoroughly test every component before integration. This complex process ensures that our clients, who rely on our products for years, can have complete peace of mind. Because of our years of installation experience, we have created a system where meeting those regulations doesn’t waste your valuable time.

The HS Model turns mandatory safety certification into a seamless process, providing total reliability for both the cargo owners and the maintenance teams.
